so does that make the Pope fallible too?

The Roman Catholic Church has published a document entitled “The Gift of Scripture“, which says that ‘[t]he Bible is true in passages relating to human salvation…but…“We should not expect total accuracy from the Bible in other, secular matters.”‘

In other words…. “You know those parts of the Bible that tell you what you can and can’t do? Sure, those are true. Everything else? Yeah, probably not. But don’t worry, we’re still going to tell you how to live so you don’t have to think for yourself.”

  1. The bible can’t be trusted on alot of issues, many of which are governing our world now, not only our lifestyles lifestyles too, but our politics. Look at israel, established because according to the bible they had a glorious nation that was better than everyone elses around and that god gave them the right to kick the canaanites out of their homes and/or slaughter em. The bible is a great moral value book, but please, don’t take it literally.

  2. How do you distinguish “moral values” from “adulteresses should be stoned to death”? You’re missing the point. How can you take literally the rules about what is a sin, but not the creation story?

  3. Just remember that most religious literature, such as the bible, was written thousands of years ago and all of its writings apply to that time. With that in mind it should be easy to seperate the outdated laws and historical records from timeless moral values.
